| Mary's Story |
|
From December 2006 to October 2007, Mary found a family to support her at Dismas House of Michiana. Before Dismas, drugs prevented Mary from being a good parent and eventually led to her arrest. Through her hard work and the assistance she received, Mary learned how to be accountable to herself and others. Mary learned the meaning of family; she learned how to cook healthy meals and become a more responsible mom. Today, Mary now leads a life without drugs and has maintained a full-time job for over one year. Mary writes of Dismas:
Dismas taught me healing and forgiveness are available to anyone who seeks it. From chores to laundry, through the every day accountability of belonging to a family, Dismas has given me a secure foundation to start my new way of life. I’m grateful for my new future and everyone who helps make this possible. I love that I have a purpose and a place at the Dismas table and look forward to staying involved with new residents and sharing my journey.” |
